- Cached data: Recent tide predictions, swim quality grades, and weather conditions for faster loading
Information Retrieved from Third Parties
ShoreSure fetches publicly available data from the following sources to provide its core functionality:
- NIWA (National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research): Tide time predictions and tidal heights for NZ locations
- LAWA (Land, Air, Water Aotearoa): Swim suitability and water quality grades for monitored beaches
- Weather data: Current conditions and forecasts for beach locations
These requests are made directly from the app. We do not proxy, log, or store your API requests on any server we operate.
Information We Do NOT Collect
We want to be clear about what we don't do:
- We do not collect analytics or usage data
- We do not track your location
- We do not share any data with third parties
- We do not store your data on our servers
- We do not require you to create an account
- We do not display advertising
How Your Data Is Used
All communication happens directly between your device and the public data sources listed above. ShoreSure acts as a client application — we do not operate servers that process or store your data.
Any preferences or cached data are:
- Stored only on your device
- Used solely to improve your experience within the app
- Never transmitted to any server we operate

ShoreSure connects directly to NIWA, LAWA, and weather data providers. Your use of these services is governed by their respective privacy policies and terms of service. We do not integrate with any analytics platforms, advertising networks, or data brokers.
Data Retention
All data is stored locally on your device. You can clear all app data at any time by:
- Clearing the app cache within your device settings
- Uninstalling the app (removes all stored data)
Children's Privacy
ShoreSure is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
